Why We Offer Summer Camp for Adults with Disabilities
For too many adults with disabilities, everyday life can feel painfully repetitive, lonely, and far removed from the sense of freedom that so many of us take for granted. Days often pass inside the same four walls, with few chances to explore new places, build fresh friendships, or feel truly free.
Our summer camp changes that.
At Easterseals Oregon, we believe no one ever outgrows the need for adventure, connection, and belonging, or the need to feel free, accepted, and alive.
Our fully accessible summer camp gives adults with disabilities something powerful: a rare chance to break free from daily limits and experience adventure, connection, and joy. At camp, they can swim, paddle a canoe, sit around a campfire, or simply laugh with friends under the stars. It’s a chance to practice life skills, gain confidence, and build independence in a safe, supportive setting.
Just as importantly, camp offers something that can’t be measured in activities alone — a true sense of belonging. For many, it’s one of the only times they get to be part of a community that sees their strengths, honors their choices, and encourages them to dream bigger. For many campers, this is the only time all year they get to experience life without limits, surrounded by people who believe in them.
For adults living with disabilities, our summer camp is more than a break from routine — it’s a lifeline for joy, growth, and connection.
