PORTLAND, Ore., October 15, 2026 — Easterseals Oregon is inviting individuals, businesses, and community groups to help Veterans and seniors with disabilities prepare for winter through its annual Cold Weather Kits Project, sponsored by Qorvo and Crowne Plaza by IHG. The organization is collecting new winter essentials, hygiene supplies, and non-perishable healthy snacks through October 26, 2026, with the goal of assembling more than 500 kits for the Veterans, seniors, and adults with disabilities they serve through their programs.
For Veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities facing housing or financial insecurity, winter can add pressure to already limited resources. Fixed incomes, disability-related expenses, and barriers to employment or affordable, accessible housing can make it difficult to cover everyday needs. Financial strain can also increase the risk of homelessness among veterans and seniors.
A pair of warm socks, a blanket, or basic hygiene supplies can make a meaningful difference in daily comfort and well-being. By providing these essentials, Cold Weather Kits help ease the burden of purchasing necessities and remind recipients that their community cares.
Requested donations include new items such as:
- Soap and hygiene supplies, including nail clippers, toothbrushes, and toothpaste
- Socks, gloves, hats, scarves, and small blankets
- Healthy, non-perishable snacks
Community members are encouraged to organize a collection drive at a workplace, school, place of worship, or neighborhood gathering. Sharing the supply list and collecting items together is an impactful way to turn community support into winter essentials.
Donations can be dropped off by October 26, 2026, at Easterseals Oregon, 237 NE Broadway, Suite 100, Portland, OR 97232. Donations are accepted Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Those who prefer to give financially can support Easterseals Oregon at oregon.easterseals.com by selecting Donate. To learn more about the project or discuss organizing a drive, call 503-228-5108 or email events@or.easterseals.com.
On November 2, a dedicated team of 50 volunteers will gather at the Crowne Plaza to turn the community’s generosity into more than 500 Cold Weather Kits for Veterans, seniors, and adults with disabilities.
